This acrylic-on-canvas work is an expressive female portrait with cubist and fauvist influences, where a serene figure with closed eyes rests a hand on the chin in a gesture of intimate contemplation. The composition is articulated through facets of geometric planes and fluid strokes that fragment light on the face and torso, creating a rich chromatic interaction between cool cobalt blue and turquoise in the background and warm hues of yellow, orange, red and pinkish highlights on the human figure. The visible painterly texture, together with the subtle contrast between the delicacy of the pose and the firmness of the contour lines, gives the piece an emotive, sophisticated atmosphere and notable poetic strength.
