Year: 2021 His tag, “JonOne,” the central composition of his work, repeated infinitely on canvases, like an abstract system, echoes the core of tagging, which relies on the strict duplication of an identitary inscription. Biography: JonOne (Franco-American, born in 1963 in New York), famous for works influenced by graffiti, was born in Harlem, where the colorful, elaborate graffiti art evolves. He began creating, with a childhood friend, graffiti of his name from the age of 17. In 1984, he founded the Graffiti 156 All Starz collective to bring together graffiti artists’ passion. After moving to Paris in 1987, he began working as a painter on canvas in a studio. He quickly made a name for himself in Parisian art circles with his canvas works, was exhibited in 1990 at Gallery 45 in Berlin, and participated in the Graffiti Paris exhibition, where his work was shown on a permanent basis. His works rank among the most important pieces auctioned in the graffiti world. #ESArtMarch
