Introduction by André Gide. Printed on 15 October 1964. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe – Novels Pléiade no. 103. The Sorrows of Young Werther – Elective Affinities – Wilhelm Meister. Translations and notes by Bernard Groethuysen, Pierre du Colombier and Blaise Briod. Printed on 29 August 1966. The first Pléiade edition of this volume dates back to 1954. German Romantics – Volume I Pléiade no. 168, volume published under the direction of Maxime Alexandre. Texts by Jean Paul, Novalis, Friedrich Schlegel, Ludwig Tieck, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Heinrich von Kleist and Frédéric de La Motte-Fouqué. Printed on 10 November 1966. This anthology comprises 1,648 pages in its complete collation. The three volumes are kept in a remarkable, nearly new condition, with their handsome soft green leather bindings, gold tooling and titles, bookmarks, illustrated dust jackets and protective rhodoids. interiors exceptionally fresh and clean. Bindings and gilt very well preserved. The protective covers show only the very light traces of age visible in the photographs. A very homogeneous collection of German literature in the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, particularly appealing in this condition of preservation.
