Joan Miró — XXe Siècle, No. 47, 1976 Colour Lithograph, Épreuve d’Artiste Original colour lithograph by Joan Miró, printed by Maeght, Paris, in 1976 for XXe Siècle, No. 47. in superb condition. The work is referenced as M.1107 and is annotated E.A. in pencil, indicating that it is an Épreuve d’Artiste, or artist’s proof, outside the regular numbered edition. It is signed in pencil in the lower right margin. Printed on Arches paper, the lithograph measures approximately 63 x 45 cm. This striking composition is one of Miró’s most visually powerful graphic works from the period. The image is filled with vibrant colour, sharp detail and dynamic movement, combining bold black gestural forms with intense areas of red, blue, green and yellow. Miró’s characteristic visual language is immediately recognizable: biomorphic forms, bird-like figures, circular motifs, floating signs and textured black impressions that create rhythm, depth and visual energy across the sheet. The strong central black form anchors the composition, while the surrounding colours appear to move freely around it, giving the work a sense of spontaneity, balance and poetic vitality. The contrast between the vivid printed image and the generous white margins of the Arches paper gives the lithograph a particularly elegant and refined presence. The artwork has remained in excellent condition since its publication in 1976, with fresh colours, strong contrasts and a clean overall presentation. It is accompanied by a Gallery Letter of Authenticity. A beautiful, scarce and highly collectible Joan Miró lithograph, especially desirable due to its E.A. artist’s proof status, its execution on Arches paper, its excellent condition and its impressive format. Signed artist’s proof impressions of this work are very difficult to find, making this an exceptional opportunity for collectors of Miró’s graphic work.
