Joan Miró (1893-1983) – Contemporary Master Etchers (1970) – Extremely Rare Flat Sheet / Avant la Lettre – Original Period Lithograph – Atelier Mourlot, Paris Description of the lot: Exceptional, museum-grade lot consisting of an original color lithograph by Joan Miró (Mourlot 682 / Cramer Books 132), created in 1970 for the emblematic Galerie Berggruen in Paris, accompanied by its original cataloging document that includes a second black-and-white lithographic vignette by the artist. JUSTIFICATION OF EXCLUSIVITY AND MARKET VALUE (HIGH-END COLLECTING): Unlike the vast majority of copies that appear on the secondary market (which are merely rugged covers salvaged from commercial books, guillotined, folded in half, and weakened along the spine), this piece belongs to a radically superior level of collecting. This is a flat sheet from origin, a workshop proof printed by the legendary Atelier Mourlot before binding, folding, or commercial distribution of the book. • Never folded or spine creases: The reverse of the sheet is 100% flat, clean, and smooth. It has never been folded or sewn, preserving the absolute physical integrity of the support. • Premium quality paper stock: It is not printed on the low-grammage industrial vélin paper used for the standard catalog. It is printed on a heavy, pristine, high-density paper stock, ideal for archival printer proofs and gallery gifts. The peripheral marks visible on the margins correspond to the clamps of Mourlot’s lithographic press, certifying its workshop nature. • Complete historical lot: The accompanying justification sheet retains the official colophon and, crucially, an authentic black-and-white Miró lithographic vignette at the top, elevating this lot to an undeniable museum-grade authenticity. Technical specifications: • Artist: Joan Miró (1893-1983) • Year: 1970 • Printer: Atelier Mourlot (Paris) • Publisher: Galerie Berggruen (Paris) • Cataloging: Mourlot 682 / Cramer Books 132 • Medium: Original stone lithograph • Condition: Excellent (Flat sheet, never folded, immaculate reverse).
