18kt Gold Pocket Watch. This pocket watch by H.R. Ekegren and Ed. Kohne, retailed by J.E. Caldwell & Co., features an 18kt yellow gold open-face case, engraved 18kt yellow gold cuvette, gold-tone bow, glass crystal, signed H.R. Ekegren Geneva white porcelain dial with Arabic numeral hours chapter executed in black enamel, blued steel moon hands, sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock, and a fine Swiss-made, signed H.R. Ekegren and Ed. Kohne 21-jewel, 8-adjustment mechanical movement. Edward Kohne, born in 1839 to a family of clockmakers, moved to Geneva in 1859 to pursue watchmaking and joined Patek Philippe in 1861, eventually becoming a shareholder. In 1891, he left the firm to establish his own business and acquired the distinguished watchmaking house H.R. Ekegren. Total approx. weight is 43.1 dwt (gross), including the movement and crystal. From a Port Chester, NY estate. Dimensions: case measures approx. 45.75 mm in diameter. Condition: Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents.
