Jewellery box - (NO RESERVE PRICE) - Thuya

An exceptional handcrafted rectangular box made from precious Moroccan Thuya burl (Tetraclinis articulata), showcasing an intricate geometric marquetry lid that strongly recalls the trompe-l'œil parquetry seen in 19th-century French antique boxes of the Napoleon III era. The Raw Material & Finish: - Spectacular Thuya Burl: Shaped from the aromatic root burl of Atlas mountain thuya, displaying tight "bird's-eye" grain, warm reddish-cognac marbling, and a subtle natural cedar fragrance. - Napoleon III Geometric Echo: The lid features a complex, hand-fitted starburst and diamond tessellation combining three contrasting tones—golden burl veneers, pale lemon wood bands, and dark ebony lozenges—creating an isometric, three-dimensional visual depth prized in classic French cabinetmaking. - Hand-Rubbed Lustre: Finished to a silky, tactile sheen that reflects light across the grain variations while preserving the natural warmth of the wood. A Piece of History: Carved and assembled in the coastal medina workshops of Essaouira, this casket bridges North African artisanal virtuosity with classic European decorative traditions. Its multi-species inlay work makes it a standout collector's centerpiece for jewelry, desk accessories, or heirloom keepsakes. A unique opportunity for collectors of authentic, handmade artifacts.
