Jean-Jacques Foulon (1923-1980) - Paysage Rustique et Chaumières

Charming oil painting on canvas depicting a bucolic countryside landscape. The work features a dirt road leading to an alignment of old farms and thatched cottages with whitewashed walls and red-tiled roofs, bordered by majestic trees with bare branches and autumn/winter vegetation. Beautiful handling of light and a very expressive post-impressionist brushwork. Subject: Rural landscape, hamlet, country houses and a tree-lined road. Technique: Oil on canvas mounted on a keyed wooden stretcher with a central reinforcing bar. Signature: Signed bottom left JJ. Foulon. Frame: Molded dark wood frame with a gilded inner filet, providing a very handsome classical and elegant surround. Condition: Canvas: Excellent conservation state, canvas well stretched on its original stretcher, no tears or losses visible. Frame: Very good overall condition.
