Very fine 19th-century French craftsmanship for this Napoléon III planter. Very fine 19th-century French workmanship, where the beautiful tones of wood—fawn, ochre, brown—alternate with the gold of the metal. The planter is well complemented by its green-painted central panel, and by its various ornaments. It offers graceful curves, in the manner of a gendarme's hat. The planter is built of walnut burl veneer. It is enhanced by marquetry work in blackened wood, with palmette motifs. The mounting is in gilt brass. It is topped with delicate ornaments, and features two fillets at the base and at the summit. It rests on four ball feet. At each end, two handles completed by a chain. A few wormholes, a chip on one side. This very fine example of French craftsmanship measures 40 cm in length. It will gracefully accommodate different types of interiors.
