All auctions / Asian Art / Jar - Bird feed dish / ink pot? 17th century - Earthenware - Delft blue bowl

Delft blue pot with a thumb rest from the second half of the 17th century (1660-1680). The pot is painted with a decoration of plants and flowers featuring two birds, one on a rock and one among reeds. This chinoiserie decoration is based on 17th-century Chinese porcelain. The pot presents a pressed convex form on a foot with a stand ring. The handle is shaped like a thumb rest. The glaze is in good condition. The inside edge of the rim is slightly rough, the bottom has a crack from the production process. Tin glaze over white-fired earthenware. This form is uncommon, possibly a bird feeder or an inkpot. - Dimensions: 5.7 x 10 x 8.5 cm - Condition: good (see photos) - Dating: 1660-1680 - Decor: Chinoiserie - Provenance: Delft
