Japanese Men's Black Silk Formal Haori with Painted Lining, Showa Period, Circa 1940-1960s, Japanese Men's Black Silk Formal Haori with Painted Lining, Showa Period, Circa 1940-1960s, printed with five white kamon (family crests) depicting a three petalled flower within a circle, silk lined with a printed panel to the inside representing Jurojin one of the seven Lucky Gods renowned for longevity and wisdom, recognisable with his high forehead, long white beard, flanked by a spotted deer and crane, whilst holding a palm fan and scroll, Japanese Men's Black Silk Formal Haori with Painted Lining, Showa Period, Circa 1940-1960s, printed with five white kamon (family crests), with a printed or painted black silk lining depicting a large smiling okame mask emerging from a treasure boat sail, representing good fortune, happiness and prosperity, with inscription in white, translated as 'Good fortune comes to the house of laughter/smiling', (2) Both purchased from specialist dealers in Tokyo The Edward Crutchley Research Archive
