Japan - Japan - Postcard album (1) - 1925-1920

Album of ancient Japanese postcards glued on pages (dated 1925 / Taishō era) – Rare militaria (patriotic aircraft) and sacred shrines (~50 pieces) This collection album offers a unique visual journey through the historical San’in region (Shimane and Tottori). A precious official commemorative stamp in violet ink, dated July 26, 1925 (Year 14 of the Taishō era), appears inside and scientifically guarantees the authenticity of the period. The speciality of this original album is that each postcard is carefully and firmly glued to every sheet in a uniform and systematic way [nzbVT3]. The set covers varied subjects: Matsue Castle, the Ohashi River, the Uratomi coast, and the cherry blossoms (Sakura) of Kurayoshi. The album is distinguished above all by three highly sought-after masterpieces: • Military Rarity – Patriotic Aviation (Militaria): The end of the album features two superb colorized cards illustrating Imperial Japanese Army biplanes. One aircraft bears the painted inscription 18th Rikusan and the mention of an official donation testifying to aircraft donated to the army by private funds in the early 1920s. The two machines proudly wear the national red sun disc (Hinomaru). • The Grand Izumo Taisha Shrine: An official series documents this bastion of Shinto spirituality. It includes the view of the approach bridge topped by its monumental wooden torii with its sacred original measures, as well as the mythic Inasa no Hama beach and its rock crowned by an altar. • The Hinomisaki Lighthouse and the Sacred Cave: Several views show the tallest stone lighthouse in Asia (built in 1903) as well as rare excursions inside the mystical maritime cave of Kukedo, connected by wooden walkways from the era that are now gone. The clean, systematic, and entirely original presentation of these cards, all glued to their pages, makes them a premier historical item for cartophiles and Japanese history collectors, but it also makes their use as postcards impossible since they are glued.
