JACQUES VILLON — RETROSPECTIVE - Lot 150

JACQUES VILLON — RETROSPECTIVE VILLON (Jacques). Jacques Villon 1875–1963. Painter—Draughtsman. Retrospective. Paris, Galerie Schmit, [circa 2000]. Large quarto, paperback, cover illustrated with several photographic portraits of the artist. Numerous color and black-and-white reproductions, several of which are full-page. Catalog of a major retrospective organized by Galerie Schmit, 396 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, dedicated to the paintings and drawings of Jacques Villon (1875–1963). The collection traces the artist’s evolution from his early figurative explorations to his Cubist and abstract compositions, particularly his experiments with the geometric decomposition of space and color. Of particular note is the full-page reproduction of *L'Espace*, an oil on canvas from 1932. A few creases and signs of wear on the cover; interior in good condition.
