J. Duchéne - Thérèse van Lisieux

Antique oil on panel painting of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (born 1873 – died 1897), also known as Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face from the late 19th – early 20th century, France. Signed bottom right. Probably a gift for her, as depicted in the bottom left by the artist. The back bears ink text and also, in the upper corner, the artist's signature (Jenny Duchéne,?, difficult to read). She was canonized in 1925 by Pope Pius XI and proclaimed patron saint of the missions in 1927; here she is depicted with roses in her hand and the crucifix of Christ. The panel painting is in good condition and beautifully painted. It has previously been framed. Dimensions: 24x19 cm
