IWC Portofino Automatic IW353301 – 38 mm – automatic – silver-colored dial – date – stainless steel IWC bracelet The IWC Portofino IW353301 is a restrained and classically designed automatic dress watch from the Portofino collection. This version combines a 38 mm stainless steel case with a light silver/white dial, applied baton hour markers, central seconds, and a date window at 3 o'clock. The watch is equipped with a finely brushed stainless steel IWC bracelet and matching IWC clasp. The combination of the slim case, minimalist dial, and fully stainless construction gives the watch an elegant yet versatile look. ────────────────── Basic information Brand: IWC Schaffhausen Collection: Portofino Model: Portofino Automatic Reference: IW353301 Diameter: 38 mm Case material: stainless steel Dial: silver/white Crystal: sapphire crystal Movement: automatic Caliber: IWC 30110 Number of jewels: 21 Frequency: 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour Power reserve: approx. 42 hours Functions: hours, minutes, central seconds and date Caseback: solid stainless steel back Bracelet: stainless steel IWC bracelet Clasp: IWC-signed folding clasp Water resistance according to model specification: 3 bar / 30 meters Swiss Made ────────────────── Important details • Classic Portofino design with a diameter of 38 mm • Automatic IWC caliber 30110 • Silver/white, minimalist dial • Date window at 3 o'clock • Central seconds • Applied polished baton hour markers • Sapphire crystal • Fully stainless steel construction • Finely brushed IWC bracelet with IWC-signed clasp • Signed IWC crown • Very neat timegrapher measurement of −2 seconds per day ────────────────── Estimation of production year Estimated production period: circa early 2000s. The IW3533-generation belongs to the Portofino models that IWC offered in the early 2000s. For the IW353301, samples from the mid-2000s are known among others. An exact individual construction year cannot be determined without dated documentation. Therefore, the production period is stated here as an estimate. ────────────────── Case The round case is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 38 mm. The design is typical for the classic Portofino line: a slim polished bezel, rounded case sides, and long, gracefully shaped lugs. This gives the watch an elegant and spacious feel despite the relatively traditional diameter. The polished surfaces are in nicely used condition. There are light superficial scratches and signs of wear, consistent with normal wear. No large damages or heavy dents present. ────────────────── Dial The silver/white dial is unusually calm in design and forms the main defining element of this Portofino. Below 12 o'clock is the IWC logo and the text SCHAFFHAUSEN. Above 6 o'clock is AUTOMATIC and along the bottom SWISS MADE. The hours are indicated by slim applied metal baton markers. At 12 o'clock is a double marker, making orientation immediately recognizable. Along the outer edge is a fine black minute track. The dial is in very well-kept condition and has retained its bright, classic look. ────────────────── Hands The time is indicated by slim, polished baton hands for hours and minutes. A very fine central seconds hand runs across almost the full diameter of the dial and aligns with the minute scale along the outer edge. The minimalist design of the hands suits the subdued dress watch aesthetic of the Portofino. ────────────────── Date There is a separate date window at 3 o'clock. The date is shown in black against a light background and is thus clearly legible without heavily interrupting the symmetrical character of the dial. ────────────────── Movement Inside sits the automatic IWC caliber 30110. Caliber: IWC 30110 Type: mechanical automatic Base: ETA 2892-A2 Number of jewels: 21 Frequency: 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour Power reserve: approx. 42 hours Functions: hours, minutes, central seconds and date The caliber 30110 is a relatively slim automatic movement, which fits well with the elegant proportions of this Portofino. ────────────────── Timegrapher measurement The performed measurement yields the following values: Rate deviation: −2 seconds per day Amplitude: 251° Beat error: 0.0 ms Lift angle: 52.0° Frequency: 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour The measured rate deviation of −2 seconds per day and beat error of 0.0 ms are neat values during this measurement. A timegrapher measurement is always a snapshot in one measurement position and does not constitute a guarantee of future accuracy or the complete technical state of the movement. ────────────────── Crystal The watch is fitted with sapphire crystal. The crystal is clear and provides good visibility of the light dial. There are no notable heavy damages affecting readability. ────────────────── Crown The knurled crown is located on the right side. The crown is equipped with the IWC Probus Scafusia emblem and, due to its relatively compact size, fits well with the elegant case shape. ────────────────── Case back The Portofino has a closed stainless steel back. The central portion is brushed, while the surrounding case parts are polished. The back bears the number 3062192. The back shows light surface scratches and signs of wear but is overall in well-kept condition. ────────────────── Stainless bracelet The watch is equipped with a finely brushed stainless steel IWC bracelet. The bracelet consists of multiple narrow, rounded links and thus has a smooth and almost beads-of-rice-like character. This bracelet gives the watch a distinctly different look from the typical Portofino versions on leather. The many polished links visually complement the high-gloss finished case. The bracelet shows normal light signs of wear but overall appears very well kept. ────────────────── Clasp The stainless steel bracelet features an IWC-signed folding clasp. The outer clasp element clearly bears IWC. The clasp and adjacent links show light surface scratches consistent with normal use. ────────────────── Wrist size In the current configuration, the bracelet is suitable for a wrist circumference of about 18 to 18.5 cm. The final fit also depends on the shape of the wrist and the desired wear tolerance. ────────────────── Condition Case: neat used condition with light hairline scratches and surface marks Bezel: well maintained, with light signs of wear Dial: very neat condition Indices and hands: well kept Sapphire crystal: clear, without notable heavy damages Back: light normal signs of wear Stainless bracelet: neat used condition with light scratches Clasp: light signs of wear Crown: IWC-signed Movement measurement: −2 sec/day, 251° amplitude and 0.0 ms beat error ────────────────── Overall condition An elegant IWC Portofino Automatic in a particularly timeless configuration. The 38 mm steel case, subdued silver/white dial, and fine stainless IWC bracelet provide a classic look that is suitable for both formal and everyday wear. The watch is overall in neat used condition. Especially the dial presents very well, while the case, bracelet, and clasp mainly show light normal signs of wear. The measured rate deviation of −2 seconds per day is also a neat value during the performed timegrapher measurement.
