IVES CAST IRON HORSE DRAWN FIRE HOSE REEL CART C. 1900–1912. A rare and attractive Ives, Blakeslee & Co., Bridgeport, Connecticut, two-horse open-frame cast-iron fire hose reel, likely from the Phoenix Series. The toy features a team of two cast-iron horses finished in black and silver, fitted with a small roller wheel and harnessed to an open-frame fire wagon with large black spoked wheels. The wagon is painted primarily green with gold ornamental highlights and features a distinctive oversized hose reel with a floral or sunburst design. An elevated driver is seated at the front, with a fireman positioned at the rear. Age-appropriate paint loss and oxidation are present throughout. The hose string appears to be a replacement. Overall, a stunning and rare toy. Condition: (Excellent).
