The plate shows a close-up study of extraordinary visual impact of the Corinthian capital of the Temple of Jupiter Stator in the Roman Forum (at that time known by this name, today identified by archaeologists as the Temple of Castors or the Temple of the Dioscuri): • The Capital (Front-View/Lateral View): Represents the apex of sculptural refinement of the imperial era (restoration from the Trajanic/Hadrianic period). The engraving highlights the magnificent three-dimensional development of the acanthus leaves, whose lobes fold gracefully outward with superb naturalism. The large angular volutes and the central cauliculi interlace elegantly, supporting the abacus above. • The Abacus Flower/Floret: At the upper left is clearly visible the detail of the large multi-petaled ornamental flower that decorates the center of the abacus, finely repoussé. • Archaeological Fragment "A": In the lower right corner of the composition, a small comparative study is included (marked with the letter "A"), illustrating a real stone fragment of the capital with its molded profile, useful for architectural study and for on-site surveying. Exceptionally fresh paper; only a barely visible thumb notch and minimal, physiological signs of aging on the white back of the page are noticed, leaving the front perfectly pristine and free of significant foxing.
