Italy - Artillery - Military medal

The 53rd Division fought on the Karst and on the Asiago Plateau, in the toughest battles of 1916–1917. This little medal was made for the 53rd’s machine gunners at the end of the war as a unit keepsake — it is not an official state medal; it’s a corps medal, minted by the soldiers themselves. That’s why on one side there is the realistic scene of the two of them in a trench with the Fiat.
