Italian school, at least from the early 18th century After Leonardo da Vinci ‘Salvator Mundi’ Oil on copper A masterwork on copper from the 18th century. It is incredible how close the painter came to capturing the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). The painter's technical quality in every respect matches the techniques such as the ‘sfumato’ that originated in the Renaissance. Sfumato is a painting technique in which the outlines and colors are blurred and blend into each other as softly as possible. These techniques became famous, among others, through da Vinci and his contemporaries. Such as: Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Bernardino Luini and Raphael. Notably, the halo of Christ is applied with gold paint. In the past, gold was ground into powder that was incorporated into the paint as pigment. Salvator Mundi" (Latin for "Savior of the World") is a Christian motif that depicts Jesus Christ as the savior of humanity, and also the title of the most expensive painting in the world attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. Dimensions of the copper plate: 16.5 x 12.5 cm. Condition: - In good condition • The KraWienArt Collection •
