Italian school (XVII) - L'educazione della Vergine

Title: Saint Anne, Saint Joachim and the Virgin as a Child School: Italian, late 17th century (circa 1680) Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 79 cm x 61 cm Description (English): An intimate and rare depiction of the Holy Family, this refined composition captures the young Virgin Mary absorbed in reading a book, guided by Saint Anne and gently watched over by Saint Joachim. The scene blends spiritual instruction with familial tenderness, a theme deeply rooted in the devotional art of the late 1600s. The work features a soft, warm palette and a balanced use of chiaroscuro that gently highlights the expressions and gestures. The smooth brushwork and idealized figures suggest influence from central Italian schools, with echoes of Maratta or early Bolognese painters. In good overall condition, the canvas retains an authentic patina consistent with its age, with minor restorations visible under close inspection. A beautiful example of sacred art, ideal for collectors or devotional spaces. Provenance: Private collection, Italy fast and insured shipping
