Italian school (XIX-XX) - Enthroned Madonna and Child. 95 x 73 cm (without frame) - 126 x 103 cm (with frame). Oil on panel, in a carved wooden frame. The painting depicts the Virgin seated on a green wooden throne adorned with pinnacles, holding on her lap the blessing Christ Child. The Madonna wears a blue mantle over a red gown and a white veil, following traditional iconography; both figures are crowned by gilded haloes with punched decoration. The composition stands out against a dark background, within an arched centina with gilded spandrels. The monumental rendering of the figures, their frontality and the simplified volumes recall early fifteenth-century Florentine painting, reinterpreted through the Renaissance Revival taste widespread between the late 19th and early 20th century. Condition report: Good state of preservation of the paint surface, with some paint losses. Losses and gaps to the frame.
