Isidoor Boerewaard (1893-1972) - Zeezicht

Typical work of Isidore (Door) Boerewaard (Apples near Dendermonde, 30 June 1893 - Knokke, 1 August 1972) Belgian painter and son of the painter Camille Boerewaart (this family name is the historically correct spelling, but eight children wrote their name as Boerewaard). Educated at the Academy of Dendermonde under Ferdinand Willaert and at the Brussels Academy under Guillaume Van Strydonck. His work initially stood in the line of the Dendermonde School of 'gray painters'. He later became somewhat milder, painting less avant-garde. He painted polder landscapes, seascapes, and flower still lifes. Oil on panel. Panel dimensions 40 x 30 cm. Panel in excellent condition.
