Made in Canada. 1935 - 1948. Single-sided porcelain (SSP). This Velco Motor Oil gas pump island display rack was manufactured for the Irving Oil Company Limited as a high-visibility service station product display. The striking red, green, and white lithographed display commands attention with its bold typography instructing motorists to "Ask For Velco Motor Oil" to ensure "More Miles" and "More Power". Complete with an arched base design and two removable wire carriers holding a full set of eight embossed glass oil bottles with metal pour spouts. As K.C. Irving rapidly expanded his service station network across Atlantic Canada and New England following the company's 1924 founding, Velco (alongside Irving Superior) served as one of the company's early heavy-duty lubricant brands. The product line remained highly popular throughout the 1940s and 1950s, evolving from early glass distributions into bright yellow, red, and blue graphic quart cans. Unmarked. Some spouts embossed.
