Bindings in full stiff parchment with gilded frames on the boards; stains on the rear board. Red leather label applied to the spine with the title and author in gold. 1 white leaf, [8] including frontispiece and portrait, 274, [5], 1 white leaf Vesling Johannes (Minden 1598-1649), illustrious Padovan anatomist of German origin, known for this treatise, first published in Padua in 1641, later translated into various languages, he had numerous reissues and for more than fifty years was the anatomy text most in use in universities. Of particular scientific value are his descriptions and illustrations of the blood vessels. Frontispiece figurative on a full page, printer’s mark at the title page and portrait of the author. Decorated initial capitals. 23 fine copper-engraved anatomical plates on full page. Restoration to the plate of Chapter II. Double ex libris affixed to the first flyleaf. Small ink blot on the inner margin that does not touch the text of the first 13 leaves. Tear on p. 247. Sporadic spots. In general a specimen in good conservation state, complete and usable.
