Antique double inkwell set with a gracefully worked cast-brass tailpiece and two original glass inkwells. The design features, as seen in the photo, elegant scrolls and floral motifs in the Scandinavian/North European Art Nouveau style. Period: 1880 - 1920 This item bears the German mould/fabrication mark; M in a sunburst (Sunburst); the German foundry Musterschutz. In addition, the hand-stamped identification number 6426 is clearly visible, making this item a unique and recognizable model for collectors. Expert-judgement: The fact that the stamp is cast so cleanly and directly into the mold confirms that this is an authentic late-19th- or early-20th-century casting and not a modern replica. Comparable specimens of this item can be found in the Broham Museum in Berlin and the National Museum in Stockholm. Condition: in good used condition, with a repair to one of the hinges of the inkwell. The glassware and the remaining metalwork are of exceptional quality and free from any damage.
