INDONESIA. 5 Sen. 1962. Republic. - Value: 5 Sen. - Year: 1962. - Inscriptions: Obverse: PRESIDEN REPUBLIK INDONESIA · SUKARNO. Reverse: 5 SEN · 1962, surrounded by a crown formed by ears of rice and cotton. - Grade: MS62 (NGC). Coin of 5 Sen with the bust facing left of President Sukarno on the obverse, accompanied by his name and official title as President of the Republic of Indonesia. The reverse shows the face value and the date in the center, framed by a crown of rice stalks and cotton, traditional symbols of prosperity and welfare in Indonesian national iconography. The specimen features well-defined relief, abundant original luster, and uniform surfaces with slight contact marks typical of a coin not in circulation, fully consistent with the MS62 grade. This plain-edge variant was minted for circulation in Irian Barat (Western New Guinea), a territory whose incorporation into Indonesia culminated in 1962, making this issue an interesting numismatic testimony to the region's integration into the Indonesian state.
