The first version failed to capture the special atmosphere I had experienced at that location. With a fresh perspective and new artistic experience the painting took on its current form. The inspiration for this piece comes from a photo I took in the Kirchdörfer Heide. I am fascinated by the warm sunlight that makes its way through the tall pine trees bathing their trunks in luminous shades of gold and copper. Between light and shadow a serene atmosphere emerges that makes the tranquility and beauty of this forest palpable. Signed lower left. Oil on cotton stretched on a stretcher frame 50 x 60 cm.
