In the Hidden Moor by Gary Westall Painting 9.5 x 11.8 :: This painting was created en plein air during the annual plein air event in K?opotowo Poland. On a hot summer day a fellow painter and I sought out the shade of the forest. There among the trees we discovered a small pond whose shimmering green water and gnarled tree trunks exuded a mysterious almost enchanted atmosphere. I was fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow the reflections on the water’s surface and the tranquility of this hidden spot. As I painted time seemed to stand still. With this painting I wanted not only to capture the unspoiled nature of this forest landscape but also to convey the feeling of having discovered a place that far removed from everyday life retains its own unique silence and magic.
