Timo Sarpaneva – Iittala – Arkipelago – rare set of 6 champagne glasses – including the original packaging - from the 1980s Beautiful and particularly complete set of 6 Arkipelago champagne glasses, designed by the famous Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva (1926–2006) for Iittala. The Arkipelago series was designed in 1978 and is part of Sarpaneva’s characteristic Finnish glass design. These champagne glasses, model 2143, feature an elegant tall bowl and a heavy sculptural foot with organic glass structures and embedded air bubbles. This makes each glass subtly different. The model has a capacity of about 14 cl. It is notable that the complete set still comes with the 3 original factory boxes, each for two glasses. The packaging bears: ARKIPELAGO 2143-014-00 2 kpl-st-pc ORIGINAL DESIGN TIMO SARPANEVA and: iittala–nuutajärvi oy 14500 iittala Finland The original packaging has no EAN barcode and shows signs of aging and use appropriate to its age. The preservation of all three boxes provides a nice addition to this complete collectible set.
