Splendid Russian Sacred Icon depicting the Mother of God of Černigov-Gethsemane with the Infant Jesus, both adorned with regal crowns. The work is a refined period chromolithograph applied to a solid thick wooden panel, a technique typical of the renowned Russian manufactories of the 20th century. The metallic gold/bronze background is finely relief-worked with geometric motifs (guilloché effect) to simulate the precious work of metal coverings (riza/oklad). In the side cartouches and at the bottom the sacred monograms and the original inscription in ecclesiastical Slavic identifying the subject (Черниговская) are clearly visible.
