Old Russian icon with brass oklad – late 19th / early 20th century Ancient Orthodox Russian icon painted in tempera on wooden panel, with an oklad/riza in embossed metal decorated with floral and geometric motifs. The work presents a religious composition with Christ in the upper part and figures of saints or apostles in the central scene. Due to surface wear of the painting, precise subject identification remains difficult. The icon appears authentic and coherent with late Tsarist-era Russian devotional production intended for private domestic use. Features - Technique: tempera on prepared wooden panel - Covering: oklad/riza in stamped brass - Epoch: late 19th – early 20th century (circa 1880–1910) - Provenance: Russian area - Dimensions: approximately 21 × 23 × 2 cm Condition report Conditions consistent with age: - significant wear of the painting film; - craquelure and darkening; - ancient, inactive woodworm holes; - oxidations and deformations of the metallic cover. Item sold in the condition shown in the photograph. Careful packing and tracked shipping.
