HUISMAN (Georges), ed. — General History of Art. Volume II Paris, Librairie Aristide Quillet, 1957. Large in-4 volume. Brown half-shagreen binding with corner pieces, marbled covers, and a ribbed spine with gilt lettering. Volume II of this important General History of Art, published under the direction of Georges Huisman, honorary director general of the Beaux-Arts, with contributions notably from Luc Benoist, Louis Bréhier, J.-G. Goulinat, Charles Kunstler, Élie Lambert, Daisy Lion-Goldschmidt, Henri Martinie, Denise Paulme, Robert Rey, and Charles Terrasse. This second volume covers, in particular, the arts from the 15th to the 20th century, as well as art in Africa and Oceania. Extensively illustrated in black and white and color. The 1957 edition comprises approximately 815 pages. Persée A fine copy in a decorative binding, though showing some scuffing and minor wear on the edges, raised bands, and corners; the interior appears to be in good condition.
