Hugo de Saint-Cher - Concordantiae Bibliorum Sacrorum Vulgate Editionis - Impensis Societatis Typographicae Librorum Officii Ecclesiastici - 1656 This is an original edition for this specific revision of the seventeenth century. Hugo de Saint-Cher (1200-1263) was a French Dominican cardinal and eminent theologian at the University of Paris. He is famous for having directed the first biblical concordance of the Latin Vulgate in the thirteenth century with the help of more than five hundred Dominican monks. This work was originally designed to facilitate in-depth study and preaching from the sacred texts. This work constitutes an exhaustive alphabetical concordance of the words of the Holy Bible in Latin according to the Vulgate version. The binding is a full contemporary parchment with visible cords and is particularly well preserved. The work comprises about 1,000 unnumbered pages of dense text printed in three columns.
