A claret jug featuring a glass body with solid sterling silver mounts. The silver collar is decorated with high-relief repousse work depicting a Bacchus mask flanked by grapevines and fruit clusters. It features a hinged lid surmounted by a cast thumbpiece in the form of a rampant lion holding a shield, a polished scroll handle, and a decorative base ring with an engraved foliate border. The glass vessel is designed with a flared cylindrical body and a cut starburst pattern on the underside of the base. The silver collar bears the Horace Woodward & Co. hallmark.
