'Duress' note, so-called because the serial number seen on this example was issued during World War II, when employees of HSBC were forced to issue notes by the Japanese, and the notes were thus issued under duress. Historically significant and quite scarce, this example stands up well, without any problems whatsoever. Chief Accountant signature G. Lyon-Mackenzie, who started his first Far East post at Hankow and worked at the Hong Kong branch from 1933. He became the sub-agent of the Kowloon branch in 1939. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,000. Lyon-Mackenzie簽名，他其首任遠東職位於漢口，1933年調職香港，1939年任九龍支行副經理。
