HÖK (1984) - Brillo Box & Van Gogh Flowers - Square Extra Large XXXL

WORK CONCEPT - Brillo Box & Van Gogh Flowers (Unique work) What would happen if Vincent van Gogh's sunflowers bloomed inside one of Andy Warhol's famous Brillo boxes? This is the curious pairing HÖK proposes in this work, where three major references in art history come together in a composition full of color, energy, and creativity. Van Gogh's sunflowers, a symbol of one of the most recognizable chapters of post-impressionism, are reinterpreted through an explosion of brushstrokes, spontaneous marks, and intense colors. But, instead of the traditional vase, the flowers emerge from a Brillo box, one of the everyday objects Andy Warhol turned into an icon of Pop Art during the sixties. The scene presents a playful encounter between two very different ways of understanding art: Van Gogh's emotional and expressive painting versus Warhol's fascination with commercial products, advertising, and consumer culture. Among the flowers also appears Takashi Murakami's signature smiling flower, incorporating a third artistic generation and establishing a bridge between modern art, Pop Art, and contemporary art. HÖK brings all these influences together and transforms them through his own visual language, where fluorescent colors, splashes, graffiti, and superimpositions add movement and a distinctly urban personality. The result is a cheerful, daring work rich in cultural references, inviting viewers to discover how artists from such different eras can coexist within the same composition. A celebration of color and creative freedom, but also a tribute to three artists who, each in their own way, changed the way we look at art and the objects around us. ──────────────────────── HÖK ARTIST HÖK Artist's works form part of private collections in more than 20 countries and have been exhibited in art galleries in Spain and Europe.
