Beautiful oil on linen painting by: Henri Deglume was a Belgian painter, born in 1865 in Gerpinnes, in the province of Hainaut, and died there in 1940. He pursued a short training at the Academy in Namur under Th. Baron and around 1894 worked under A.J. Heymans, who influenced his formation. He came to Brussels in contact with the Group Le Sillon, and then withdrew to his birthplace. He painted mainly Ardennes landscapes. His impressionist style was initially influenced by Seurat's pointillism, but he would later practice impressionism in a looser and more synthetic facture. His color palette is fresh and optimistic. His works radiate poetry and joie de vivre. He was a teacher to, among others, P. Paulus. He is listed in BAS II and Two Centuries of Signatures by Belgian artists. (Piron) Painting, in good condition.
