Working mainly with a knife, she sculpts the paint to give birth to a fleshy, raw and textured material, deftly playing with reliefs and moving glints of gold. Her compositions reveal a singular artistic universe, oscillating constantly between restrained violence and painful tenderness. Through her canvases, she brings forth from emptiness imaginative landscapes never seen before as well as deep and infinite cities. Her work, acclaimed for its ability to force life into the heart of the canvas, has notably been exhibited in Paris, such as at Terrasse de Gutenberg. Coming from a family of artists, she is closely linked to the writer Carole Zalberg, who regularly highlights her pictorial universe. Hénia Zalberg’s artistic approach remains deeply marked by a constant, intimate engagement with color and matter.
