Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 18 × 24 cm. This figurative and landscape painting depicts a peaceful natural environment dominated by a group of pine trees with broad, leafy canopies, their silhouettes set against a sky of soft blue and gray tones. The composition is structured in different planes of depth. On the left, a group of large trees with vertical trunks and dark, horizontally spreading canopies stands out, while in the central and right areas, smaller trees appear, accompanied by low vegetation and masses of foliage in shades of green, ochre, and earth. In the foreground, a dark surface, rendered with loose and expressive brushstrokes, contrasts with the luminosity of the central terrain, illuminated by delicate yellowish and greenish hues. The composition stands out for its serene and contemplative atmosphere, as well as for its treatment of natural light, which gently models the plant volumes and establishes a balanced relationship between light and shadow. The brushwork, spontaneous and slightly impastoed, reveals a remarkable richness of textures, especially in the treetops and on the ground, where pigments are layered with small touches of color. The work belongs to the tradition of 20th-century European landscape painting, characterized by a sensitive interpretation of nature and a progressive simplification of forms through chromatic and gestural means. Its artistic language shows affinities with certain compositions by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796-1875), particularly in its pursuit of a poetic atmosphere, the balance between light and shadow, and the depiction of intimate landscapes, as well as with the painting of Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923), due to its interest in the effects of natural light on vegetation and open spaces. Parallels can also be drawn with certain landscapes by Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964), due to the restrained use of color, the synthesis of forms, and the creation of quiet, contemplative atmospheres. These references constitute stylistic affinities and do not imply an attribution of authorship. The work is signed and titled on the reverse. It is presented framed, with a gilt-finished molding and a light-colored passe-partout that enhances the intimate character of the composition.
