HELLENISTIC GOLD CLUB-SHAPED PENDANT WITH SPIRALS

Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A gold pendant in the shape of a club, with a suspension loop at the top. The upper section is encircled by fine gold wire, followed by three horizontal registers of granules arranged at regular intervals. Below is a band of paired twisted wire scrolls, followed by wire circles and a projecting knop at the rounded terminal. Size: 44mm x 8mm; Weight: 3.9g Provenance: Private London collection of an art professional; acquired on the UK and European art markets between 1980s to early 2000s.
