HEDDON DOWAGIAC DECOY MINNOW FOR ICE SPEARING

HEDDON DOWAGIAC DECOY MINNOW FOR ICE SPEARING This decoy is in the exact configuration of the bait shown in the inaugural 1913 ad for “Heddon’s Genuine Dowagiac Decoy Minnow for Ice Spearing”. There are only four unmarked fins, inserted into the body. Another 1913 variation has the same style body with six angular fins; however, this four-fin version seems to be the most difficult to locate. A second line tie has been added by a fisherman, and there are two patches of missing paint at the tail & belly, and evidence that these patches were overpainted red at some point. The red gills are still present and the glass eyes are solid and the bait grades Average. Of particular note is the incredibly rare correctly marked Downleaping Bass box. It is in Excellent Minus condition, and carries the coveted “ICE” MINNOW No. “YELLOW PERCH” stamp at both ends. 5 - 1/4" Lure Item Dimensions: Box: 5 - 3/4" x 2 - 1/4" x 1 - 1/4". Item Dimensions:
