This original incunable leaf (block printed) comes from the rare, reduced Latin edition of the famous Chronicles of Nuremberg, printed on 1 February 1497 by Johann Schönsperger in Augsburg. It concerns the complete leaf Folium XIIII with a total paper size of about 30 x 19.5 cm. The page covers a portion of the Second Age of the World ("Secunda etas mundi"). The front contains the continuous Latin text across the full width and describes the patriarch Noah, his sons, the wise Jonichus (the fourth son of Noah who invented astronomy), and the genealogies of Cham’s sons Cush, Canaan and Mizraim (Masrayim) with the founding of the earliest nations after the Flood. The back contains, in two columns, an early geographical description of the provinces, mountains and rivers of Europe and Africa as known in antiquity. The leaf is in good authentic condition with light signs of aging and is offered without reserve price. Wordt aangetekend als pakket verzonde
