Three unique hand-carved Peruvian gourds (mates burilados). They do not originate from a single specific indigenous tribe, but are the work of the Quechua communities in the Andes of Peru. The material consists of dried gourds. If you gently shake the gourds, you hear the seeds rattling on the inside. These gourds offer a unique glimpse into the ancient Peruvian folk art. The three gourds vary in shape and size, creating a dynamic and appealing composition as a decorative ensemble. What makes these objects so special is the extremely high level of detail in the carving. The engravings tell a continuous story around the entire circumference of the fruit. Among others: traditional Andean architecture and village scenes with churches and houses. Farm workers in attire. Local fauna, including herds of alpacas or llamas and working animals in the fields. A fantastic collectible for lovers of ethnography, folk art, and unique South American cultural objects. Dimensions: 1. height 10.5 cm, width 10.5 cm 2. height 8.5 cm, width 10.5 cm 3. height 6 cm, width 8 cm Total weight: 205 grams.
