This original work by Bart Hamelink, titled Ego, depicts the struggle between the protective ego and the part of yourself that wants to be free. The dark figure seems to warn and hold back: "Don’t risk it", "Look out", "Don’t trust" and "I keep you safe". On the other side stands a smaller figure that says: "Let me feel" and "I’m ready". The open door between the figures symbolizes the possibility to leave fear and control behind and take a step forward. The work is thus about fear, protection, change, and the courage to listen to your own feelings. The rough black lines, loose texts, and deliberately simple figures give the painting a direct and personal feel. Ego is executed in acrylic on canvas, a unique original, signed by the artist and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. Note: the interior photos are mood images and are for illustration purposes only. Due to the size, the canvas will be rolled and carefully packed in a sturdy square shipping tube. The work is delivered without the shown frame and without a stretcher.
