Hamelink - Blue Family

This original work by Bart Hamelink, titled Blue Family, shows three unusual figures standing closely together against an intense blue background. Their oversized eyes, black bodies and strange, almost mask-like faces give the composition a playful but slightly mysterious character. Although the three figures are very different from one another, they clearly belong together. One has long rabbit-like ears, another a round head, while the third has large rounded shapes around the head. This difference between the characters gives the work its personality and creates a simple idea of family, connection and individuality — being different, but still belonging together. The bright blue background creates a powerful contrast with the predominantly black-and-white figures. Rough brushwork, visible layers and deliberately imperfect lines give the painting a spontaneous and expressive quality. Small blue details throughout the figures connect them visually with the background. Hamelink’s characteristic visual language combines simplicity with humour and emotion. The figures may appear almost childlike at first sight, but their expressions and the way they stand together leave plenty of room for the viewer’s own interpretation. Blue Family is painted with acrylic paint on canvas and is a unique original artwork. The work is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Due to its large size, the artwork will be shipped rolled, without a stretcher frame. The canvas will be carefully rolled and securely packed in a strong square shipping tube for safe transport. After arrival, the canvas can easily be re-stretched onto a wooden frame by a local framer. Please note: The interior photographs are visual impressions only, created to show how the artwork could look when displayed in an interior.
