Gustave Mascart Roberti (1834-1916) - Zicht op Dordrecht

Gustave Mascart (8 March 1834 – 1914) was a French painter who is known, among other things, for his use of the pseudonym Roberti. He was born in Valenciennes and studied under the well-known maritime painter Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Brager. In addition to Roberti, he also used the aliases Taverny and G. Mariani. Mascart painted mainly in the 19th-century (Art Nouveau) style. His work focused strongly on river and harbor views, cityscapes, mills, canals and the daily life of the working class (such as sailors on the Seine). He also captured landscapes in the Netherlands ("in Holland") and around Dordrecht. Canvas size 92 - 65 cm Incl frame. 106 - 79 cm NOTE: if the painting has to be shipped, this will be without the frame; when collecting, of course the frame is included. Pickup preferred.
