Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) - “The Kiss

Gustav Klimt: “The Kiss, 1907”. Signed in the plate. Authorized offset lithograph on heavy, premium pearl matte satin paper (approximately 290 g/m²). Condition: the work is in excellent condition. Format: 40 x 40 cm. This original artwork The Kiss was painted by Gustav Klimt between 1907 and 1908. The work is an iconic example of Viennese Jugendstil (Art Nouveau), characterized by the use of gold leaf and richly adorned robes. The image shows a tender embrace of a couple in a flowery field, often seen as a symbol of love and connectedness. The original masterwork is in the collection of the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna. Egon Schiele was an important figurative painter from Austria in the 20th century. He produced an abundance of vibrant paintings and drawings, the vast majority of which depict the naked female form. As a protegé of Gustav Klimt, Schiele became known for his raw, psychological intensity and bold depictions of the human body. His work broke with the ornamental sensuality of the Vienna Secession and introduced a radical honesty that explored vulnerability, sexuality and the complexity of human emotions. Schiele's distinctive style is characterized by expressive line, distorted anatomy, and a striking use of color and space. His portraits and nudes, often confrontational in their gaze and posture, reveal an unbridled exploration of desire and identity. The artist's ability to capture both physical tension and psychological depth sets him apart from his contemporaries and confirms him as a central figure in the transition from Symbolism to Expressionism. Today, Schiele's works are among the most sought-after on the art market. Original drawings and paintings regularly fetch prices of several millions of dollars at major auction houses. Paintings such as Houses with Colorful Laundry (1914) have brought in more than 40 million dollars, while his expressive figure drawings are highly valued by collectors around the world. Never framed and kept in a dark archival storage space between protective acid-free paper. The displayed photos are part of the description. If, with multiple orders, the shipping costs are not automatically combined, you will always receive a refund from us of the additional shipping costs paid so that you only pay shipping once.
