Ground Floor — YAKA — An important ceremonial helmet-mask made of carved and polychrome wood, with a face featuring stylized features accented with red, black, white, and blue pigments. It is topped by a large conical headdress made of fibers and plant materials, adorned with polychrome geometric motifs, and complemented by a profuse raphia-fiber collar. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yaka people, 20th century. Beautiful patina from use. Damage and missing parts due to ritual use. Height: 77 cm Width: 40 cm Weight: 1,600 grams
