Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bank of Green Bay. 186x $2. PMG Choice Fine 15. No. 7315. Plate A. Excessively rare judging by the lack of available auction records. The Bank of Green Bay survived the rash of bank failures that befell Wisconsin during the early 1860s and ultimately took a National charter in 1865 which preceded what appears to have been a vigorous redemption campaign. Judging by the lack of auction records for the City Bank of Green Bay which shares a similar history before becoming the City National Bank (Charter# 1009) in 1865, it takes little to reason that bidders have here a truly rare opportunity for this specific bank that will likely go unrepeated for years or even decades. This institution ultimately became the First National Bank of Green Bay (Charter# 874) in 1865. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Caine Collection.
