Carcharodon Carcharias — There are teeth occupying a marginal position in the jaw and others located exactly in the heart of the bite. This important natural specimen of the great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias, belongs to the second category: it is a superior A1 right, one of the two large central teeth placed alongside the midline of the upper jaw. Originating from the Caribbean Sea, it is a find that documents the anatomical perfection of the largest predator shark of our oceans. With maximum dimensions of 49 × 49 × 33 mm, the tooth exhibits exceptionally balanced proportions, a broad and almost symmetric crown and a robust, deeply bilobed root. Position A1, the first anterior element of each half of the upper jaw, generally comprises the tallest and most upright teeth of the entire dentition. The crown develops in a regular triangular shape, narrowing to a thin, perfectly preserved apex. Compared to the lateral teeth, the A1 maintains a vertical course and a symmetry that make it aesthetically harmonious and technically crucial. The crown surface is coated with ivory-white enamel-like material, compact, smooth, and naturally glossy. Longitudinal reflections highlight its slight convexity. Both edges are traversed by a continuous sequence of natural serrations, more pronounced at the base and increasingly fine toward the tip. This serration is not mechanically perfect, but biologically functional, creating a composite edge where dozens of small cusps participate simultaneously in cutting. It is an example of heterodonty, where the broad shape of the upper teeth is specialized for tearing, working in synergy with the lower dentition, better suited for grip. The root is wide and opens into two robust lobes, separated by a deep concavity. This inverted arch shape ensured a large insertion surface into the jaw tissues. Its texture, more opaque and porous than the crown, features tiny natural foramina. These details are not imperfections, but the trace of the vascular system that fed the tooth during its growth, a signature of its biological origin. This is therefore not just the tooth of a great predator, but a specialized anatomical unit, grown to occupy one of the most important points of the arch. The A1 position, dimensions close to 50 mm, and the excellent preservation of the serrations confer the specimen notable display relevance. Its frontal form, almost heraldic, embodies the universal image of the white shark tooth: a natural geometry that has become a symbol of strength and adaptation. An specimen destined for zoological collections, specialized gatherings, and contemporary Wunderkammern.
